Bei den Probandinnen handelte es sich um three hundred bzw. 124 Frauen aus dem center- und Top-Management deutscher Unternehmen sowie um 265 Studentinnen einer Hochschule für Informatik, Technik, Wirtschaft und Medien. Trotz unterschiedlichem Durchschnittsalter gab es eine weitgehende Übereinstimmung der BMI-Werte von Managerinnen und Studentinnen. In allen drei Studien lagen die BMI-Werte überwiegend im Bereich des Normalgewichts mit Schwerpunkt im unteren und mittleren Normalgewichtsbereich. Sowohl die Mehrheit der Studentinnen als auch die meisten Managerinnen griffen auf Formen restriktiven Essens und vermehrte sportliche Betätigung zurück, um ihr Gewicht bewusst zu beeinflussen. Studentinnen bevorzugten hierbei sportliche Betätigung, Managerinnen wandten aufgrund ihres knappen Freizeitbudgets vor allem Formen restriktiven Essverhaltens zur Gewichtsregulation an. Es ließ sich nicht nachweisen, dass Studentinnen, die zu restriktivem Essverhalten neigen, später zu Managerinnen werden, die restriktives Essverhalten praktizieren. Die Studienergebnisse bestätigen jedoch erneut die those, dass Formen restriktiven Essverhaltens in unserer Überflussgesellschaft inzwischen als übliche, „normale“ Methoden der Gewichtsregulation von breiten Teilen der Bevölkerung angewandt werden, ohne dass dem im jedem Fall ein pathologisches Verhaltensmuster zugrunde liegen muss.
